Police Minister Bheki Cele will brief the media on the quarterly crime statistics reflecting crimes reported to SAPS from 1 July to 30 September 2022.
Earlier on Wednesday, before the media briefing, Police Minister Bheki Cele and the police's top brass briefed the Portfolio Committee on Police on the crime statistics, which has shown an increase in contact crimes between July and September compared to the same period last year.
Several opposition MPs questioned the validity of the crime statistics, saying it is not a true reflection of the crime situation in the country."We have a leg to stand, because it is the Statistics SA we work with," he said, adding that they are paying attention to the issues raised by the Auditor-General which some members had referred to.In times of uncertainty you need journalism you can trust.
