JUST IN | John Steenhuisen elected DA leader for a second term DACongress2023
He says it has been the biggest honour of his life to lead the DA for the past three years.Steenhuisen says the writing of workable coalitions post-2024 is exaggerated. He says too many splinter parties are disrupting coalitions. He says they do not just want to bring the ANC under 50%; they want to be at the centre of governments that can serve the people.
He says the DA enters into this election in this"strong position", not by accident, but because they took some hard decisions at a difficult time for the party. He says a political party that doesn't fear an electoral outcome is a"very dangerous beast".Steenhuisen says the DA will be the first party in South Africa in 75 years to go from an opposition party to playing a leading role in government.
