The Johannesburg Council has reconvened for a second attempt to elect a mayor. Talks between the DA and five other parties collapsed on Thursday. Johannesburg has been without a mayor since Thapelo Amad's resignation a week ago.
The City of Johannesburg has convened yet another meeting this morning to try again and elect a mayor to replace Al Jamah-ah's Thapelo Amad, who resigned last week.
An initial attempt on Tuesday to elect an new mayor did not amount to anything as the ANC and its partners resorted to calling for protracted caucus breaks forcing the Speaker to adjourn the meeting.ANC ditches its brand new policy on coalitions to keep the EFF happy in Joburg - The ANC won't be implementing its new coalition policy leading up to the election of the Joburg mayor on Friday.- The ANC will support Al Jama-ah councillor Kabelo Gwamanda.For the next week, at least, the City of Johannesburg will be without a mayor following the resignation of Thapelo Amad at the 11th hour on Monday.
