LIVE | Gordhan 'can't deny' links between ANC's Chancellor House and corrupt Eskom projects
After a long question, Gordhan is finally answering, and he talks again about how State Capture impacted skills and professionalism at Eskom.
"He merely in passing... said I am doing this because the law enforcement guys are not coming to the party." 28m ago "That is information about a specific incident that took place. It is not about going around to do the job of the South African intelligence services." He then takes a swipe a De Ruyter's new book:"If that is the excuse in books or interviews for the lack of performance, then it is a pitiful excuse." Gordhan says he is an engaged and vigilant shareholder, and do what needs to be done, without"micromanaging".
"Eskom is not just a feeding trough for the ANC, as the former CEO alleges. There have been instances where there has been a link, and one can't deny that, between institutions like Chancellor House and some of the projects that have been undertaken."COMMENT | This is a remarkable gambit by Gordhan, he is introducing documents to showcase historic corruption at Eskom.
Also likely to speak is the EFF's Ntombovuyo Veronica Mente, and the ANC's Sakhumzi Stoffels Somyo and Bheki HadebeShrink-wrapped for bookshops as Moonlight: The insider secrets behind André de Ruyter's tell-all memoir "If I tried to use Eskom money for the planned operation, it would be Rogue Unit 2.0 in next to no time," he notes presciently. Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan urged former Eskom CEO André de Ruyter to gather intelligence into crime and corruption at Eskom because the company"was besieged" and something had to be done, former chairperson Malegapuru Makgoba told Parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts on Wednesday.
