The small emerging technology-focused company has seen its share price jump over 78% since the start of the year.
The small and relatively unknown 4Sight Holdings has had the best share price performance of any JSE -listed tech company this year, outpacing giants like Naspers and MultiChoice.
However, the company has reported solid financial results over the past few years, suggesting the gains are evidence-based rather than speculative. 4Sight Holdings’ customers include businesses in the telecommunications, mining, manufacturing, energy, and chemicals industries. Cybersecurity tools are in high demand due to the proliferation of cyber threats targeting businesses that are increasingly moving their operations online and to the cloud.The company has swung from a R13 million profit in its 2023 financial year to a R141 million loss in 2024.
Other JSE-listed tech stocks that have performed well in the year-to-date include Reunert, Prosus, and Karooooo.for the six months ended January 2024, with a loss of R91.38 million, 1,600% higher than in the same period a year earlier. It resulted in several banks cutting ties with the business and has sent Ayo’s share price crashing in the past few years.
