It was on World Down Syndrome Day in 2019, when Marcie was three months old, that I put a post on social media to tell friends. Marcie is a fantastic big sister to two year old Ember and she’s now in mainstream school and has a wonderful group of friends. Every Down Syndrome child is different but many now attend mainstream school, with varying levels of support. Others will go to SEND settings if that suits them better. Marcie has two 1:1 sessions throughout the week but is learning to read and write, just like her peers.

‘They’re all so different in their personalities,’ he told us, ‘but one thing I love about them is they’re very nurturing.
