Hear Little Dragon's (LittleDragon) new track 'Hold On,' from their forthcoming album 'New Me, Same Us':
Grammy-nominated Swedish electro-pop act Little Dragon have announced their forthcoming sixth album, titled. They also shared new single “Hold On.” The track has house and jazz influences, but in classic Little Dragon fashion, it doesn’t quite fit into either, transcending category as a sort of oddly enticing, entirely danceable bop. Vocalist Yukimi Nagano’s voice is always a centerpiece of Little Dragon’s sound, and here she plays with classic soul sounds, building on the track’s house roots.
You can hear this collaborative spirit in a lot of places: both in the album’s title and in the track’s seamless production. Every moving part seems like a singular thought, and a little dialed-back for the often lovingly scatter-brained group. “Hold On” might point to refinement in simplification for the Little Dragon sound, a testament to their ability to make sonically interesting and cohesive music from disparate parts.
