Litigation delays Lily Mine's reopening, say business rescue practitioners

Practitioners – Rob Devereux and Daniel Terblanche – said in their recent report distributed to creditors on March 9 that they would await the outcome of the litigation, which has a substantial impact on the business rescue proceedings.

Another court case the practitioners are waiting for is due to be heard in the Supreme Court of Appeal on May 10. Vantage Goldfield is appealing a Mpumalanga High Court order which found that the Australian company did not obtain the consent of the minister of mineral resources and energy to sell its shares to Macquarie Metals.

ANC secretary-general, Fikile Mbalula, and Cosatu commemorated International Workers Day in Louisville on Monday, but the former workers and the families of the three late workers accused the ANC of undermining them by convening the event without consultation.
