, the Sailors have not exactly set the Singapore Premier League alight.
It is understood that the gap in points and style of play contributed to Vidakovic’s departure, although the news still came as a surprise to the players as the Serb leaves with the best win rate among the Sailors’ permanent head coaches. Sailors captain Hariss Harun said: “Risto tried to introduce a style of play that all of us in the team enjoyed. While we didn’t get the results that we wanted in the beginning, we were starting to get to where we wanted to be in the second round of the SPL, so this was definitely not something that we expected.
The Sailors, meanwhile, will be looking forward to a return to the AFC Champions League after it was confirmed that they have been bumped up to the group stages following North Korea’s withdrawal.
