The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety is intensifying its efforts to prevent overloaded vehicles on the roads during the festive season. Authorities are targeting public transport and light delivery vehicles towing heavy trailers. Overloading poses a significant risk to road safety, increasing the likelihood of tyre bursts and brake failures. The department operates seven traffic control centres across the province to monitor and screen vehicle loads. By Wednesday, over 1,400 vehicles had been screened and charged for overloading since the beginning of December.
