The police psychologist from Limpopo Thapelo Molomo won Idols SA Season 18 and walked away with over R1 million in prizes
The police psychologist was crowned winner of the singing competition on Sunday and is already being sought to perform at the Mapungubwe Arts Festival 2022.We did not doubt that Thapelo would bring it home.
"That's why we started preparing for his homecoming as early as two weeks ago when it became apparent that we had a star at Idols SA."Along with the season 18 crown, Molomo walked away with over R1 million in cash prizes.
Limpopo sport, arts and culture department spokesperson Kenny Mathivha said when voting started increasing, MEC Kekana and the Mogalakwena municipality, where Molomo is from, decided to throw their weight behind Molomo. Mathivha said the MEC also emphasised that she would like to see Molomo perform at the Mapungubwe Arts Festivals 2022, which will launch on 15 November.
"This year's Mapungubwe Festival will be the first after three years of drought due to Covid 19. Ninety percent of the artists in this year's edition are from Limpopo because Limpopo has become the Mecca of Music," said Kekana."Thank you so much to everyone who has voted for me," Molomo said in a video shortly after he was crowned the winner.
"God bless you guys. It is because of your votes that I made it this far. I am really grateful for all that you have done for me," he continued.
