DISNEY VILLAIN: Emails reveal anger at Freeland's cost-cutting idea to drop streamer -- but maybe it'll help striking fed workers make ends meet Via brianlilley cdnpoli

It’s hard to take the Trudeau Liberals seriously on being fiscally prudent when it comes to wage settlements when they take big pay increases themselves and run the biggest spending budget in history. Not that I’m advocating for them to cave, but I can understand the anger of the workers walking the line being told no by people who just said yes to themselves. We have to remember something though, civil servants cost a lot of money in terms of wages, benefits and pensions.

This is a group of people who on average earn more than their counterparts in the private sector once factors such as education and experience have been factored in. Civil servants also retire earlier and they have the kind of job security most people only dream of having.Article content During the pandemic, tens of thousands of civil servants were told to go home, as were private sector workers. The difference is, there were no job losses for the federal civil service and, in fact, at one point 73,000 federal workers were on 699 leave, meaning they were paid to be a home without doing anything.

In the private sector, most people who couldn’t do their jobs from home during the pandemic either kept going to work or were laid off. That never happened for the public sector and when the federal government tried to tighten up rules around the 699 leave program,Now that same union, PSAC, is walking the picket line demanding higher wages to work from home and for you and I to pay millions a year for their political action campaigns and unconscious bias training.

No, go back to work, do your job properly, clear up the backlogs for passports, immigration and other services, and show that you are earning the pay increase. Otherwise, just follow Freeland’s advice and cut Disney+.
