John Tory makes his final speech before departing as the mayor of Toronto. Tory handed in his resignation after it was found out he had a relationship with a city staffer, on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023.It’s frustrating to listen to because it is a last minute appeal by him to avoid a disaster of his own making.
Tory’s decision to step down amid the scandal that broke was highly personal for him and his family, including his kids and grandkids. That’s all understandable, but it was still a decision that plunged the city into an unnecessary election. Now, with days to go before voting day and his preferred candidate trailing, Tory is stepping up to be the saviour.
