Liko's new Pokémon is the ideal fit for her.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Pokémon Horizons has been taking its time allowing its heroes to capture new Pokémon, but all the waiting has paid off, as Liko's first wild caught Pokémon happens to be a perfect match for the girl who always considers others' feelings above her own.
Episode #21 of Pokémon Horizons had Friede, Liko, and Roy on their way to investigate the mines of Galar, where the Black Rayquaza was supposedly sighted, but a sudden rainstorm sent them scrambling for cover. While waiting out the storm, the team came across a Hatenna which was also taking shelter, but this Hatenna seemed a little out of it, worrying Liko. Liko rushed the small Pokémon off to the airship, hoping to get the ship's doctor Molly to take a look at it.
Hatenna's Ability Matches Liko's Empathy As seen in the previous episode, where Liko withdrew from a battle because she wanted her opponent to win and feel good, Liko is very sensitive to the desires and emotions of others, just like Hatenna. Hatenna wanders off aboard the airship and happens across a minor argument and a bit of grumbling, both of which it finds difficult to endure.
Hatenna has pointed Liko towards a new goal: to understand the feelings of Pokémon, a goal that couldn't be more different from Roy's dream. It's certainly a valuable skill when it comes to caring for or interacting with Pokémon, and Hatenna's abilities will definitely come in handy trying to accomplish this.
Working with Hatenna will be something of a challenge for Liko, though perhaps not in the way it would be for most trainers. Liko and Hatenna are both empathetic to the feelings of others, but there are times when concern for the feelings of others can put oneself in a difficult spot, such as when there's a lot at stake, like when battling the Explorers.
