Athletes weren't the only ones putting on a show in Paris this Olympics. Across the city, lightning and rain lit up the night sky and made quite a fuss for the athletes at the 2024 Paris Games. On Aug. 1, the official TODAY Instagram shared photos of the brilliant display with views of the iconic Eiffel Tower. 'Lightning was seen near the Eiffel Tower on the sixth day of the 2024 #ParisOlympics,' TODAY's post reads.
'This picture is so beautiful — the Eiffel Tower, with lightning and thunder, implying the intense competition for medals among athletes and representing the progress of world integration,' one user commented about a post featuring images of lightning strikes around the famous tower.
