Bishop Samuel J. Quire, head of the United Methodist Church (UMC) in Liberia, has expressed concern over churches considering leaving the denomination due to the ongoing debate about same-sex marriage. While acknowledging the tension caused by the decision to allow gay marriage at an international convention, Bishop Quire insists that no church bearing the Methodist emblem has the right to secede and warns those planning to leave are straying from 'true Methodism'.
