Ottawa plans to spend $1.3 billion over the next six years to improve the impact assessment process.

The Liberals first pledged the new funding in 2022 and are promising more details by the end of this year about exactly how the new money will improve the process.Article content “The agency process is working well, with projects moving forward. As with all new government processes and organizations, we are continuously looking for efficiencies, improvements and lessons learned to better serve Canadians. We will continue to do so and will have more to say on initiatives in the coming months.”
“We have seen some recent encouraging signs in how the Impact Assessment Agency is being implemented. But there is a long way to go to put Canada’s overall mine permitting system on an efficient, timely and predictable path.”
