Flyhalves Manie Libbok and Gianni Lombard are set to play for South Africa A on the end-of-year tour.

Libbok and Lombard have excelled for the DHL Stormers and Lions respectively in the URC.also claims that Handre Pollard will miss at least the first Test of the Springbok tour, against Ireland in Dublin on 5 November, and could be ruled out of the entire tour.

Pollard suffered a knee injury just 27 minutes into his debut for the Leicester Tigers last weekend. The 28-year-old went under the knife this week and will be sidelined for four to six weeks. There remains uncertainty about the fate of Elton Jantjies, who missed the two Rugby Championship matches against Argentina after being accused of having an affair with Springbok team dietician Zeenat Simjee.

Damian Willemse is set to be the Springboks’ first-choice 10 on tour in Pollard’s absence, with Johan Goosen and Frans Steyn providing flyhalf cover.
