LG Unveils 2023 Soundbar Range - Including One Specially Designed For New C3 OLED TVs

And 4K/120Hz pass through is finally on the cards for gamers

The .1 bass channel is delivered by an eye-catchingly compact subwoofer, with 400W of audio power available across the soundbar’s seven channels. The driver array should benefit, too, from a new Triple Level Spatial Sound system that uses clever psychoacoustic processing and analysis performed by a head-related transfer function 3D engine to add a virtual mid layer to the soundbar’s ‘wall of sound’, creating a more convincing and immersive sense of space.

Other new features on the SC9S include a Triple Sound Optimizer designed to get the maximum performance out of the soundbar’s unusual driver configuration, and an improved version of LG’s Smart Up-mixer, which ‘remixes’ two-channel sound to take advantage of the soundbar’s full driver configuration.Photo: LG

Gamers, meanwhile, especially those who’ve experienced issues such as audio delay with HDMI ARC/eARC technology, will be pleased to know that the SC9S is equipped with HDMI pass through that supports 4K/120Hz, variable refresh rates and Auto Low Latency Mode switching. The pass through also supports Dolby Vision HDR alongside the usual HLG and HDR10 formats - though it seems HDR10+ passthrough will not be available.

There are no up-firing channels in the SE6S, but LG’s new triple level sound feature and Virtual Dolby technologies should still deliver a sense of height to the sound stage.
