I find the political reaction in Texas to the Uvalde school shooting strangely amiss. The majority of Americans believe that there are too many guns in America. They doubt whether any American citizens ought to own semi-automatic weapons like the AR-15. We also know that during the 10 years that such weapon sales were banned in America, the number of mass shootings decreased remarkably. But the ban was not renewed, and the number of mass shootings skyrocketed.
Carlson’s op-ed provides the most coherent and persuasive reasons to make the AR-15 and other modern, warlike weaponry illegal. The American public has been duped into believing that the Second Amendment allows for these weapons. This was not the intent of the framers of the U.S. Constitution., for publishing this enlightening essay. It needs to reach a wider audience than those of us who read the paper every day like I do.
In Plano, I was fortunate to have missed a large amount of red tape in the solarization of my house eight years ago, yet I am surprised about the current statewide situation for other homes and businesses. Also, utility companies have cut back on one-to-one net metering and monthly rollover credits, which will hurt the growth of solar tremendously. Because of this, it’s harder to have a zero-dollar monthly bill because of rising delivery costs, and if you ever produce more than you consume for the month, you are no longer getting a credit for it. So you’re essentially giving away the power for free.
