Although I have never been a fan of monarchy as a form of government, I can’t help but feel saddened by the death of Queen Elizabeth II. I was only 3 years old when she ascended to the throne. She was the only English sovereign I could remember.
In 1982, I was also able to take a similar photograph of her son, Prince Charles, now King Charles III, when he likewise came within arm’s length of me. Although I did not speak to him or shake hands with either one of them on those occasions, I will always treasure those moments, however brief, that I was in the presence of two of the most famous people in the world.For some reason beyond my comprehension, the media has given overwhelming coverage to the death of the queen of England.
