Mistakes happen, but the stakes are high when you’re a police officer. Shrugging and saying, “Oh, well, it was an honest mistake,” is not enough. It would be nice to see some policy change, a simple double-check when running plates, or some more training. A genuine apology from this officer would be the bare minimum from any police department that cares about the people it is supposed to be keeping safe.
When President Ronald Reagan cut taxes , it was with the supply-side guarantee that executives would pour the money into infrastructure and worker salaries, thereby raising the tides and floating all ships, guaranteeing a larger tax base and more taxes . The result was a $7 trillion addition to the national debt. Republicans reacted with the solution: Entitlements had to be cut.
To show that the lesson had been learned, Donald Trump, the king of debt, gave us a tax cut , increasing the national debt by another $7.8 trillion. Once again, Republicans stated that the only way to get the debt under control was to reduce entitlements.The poor, elderly and sick need to understand that billionaire executives are counting on them to reduce their needs. Only then will trickle-down work.
Gooden’s rhetoric undermines public faith in the rule of law. When sensationalized with metaphor and hyperbole, and unchallenged, such rhetoric impedes, rather than encourages, understanding.Re: “An attack on democracy itself — Latest Trump indictment shows how former president sought to overturn will of voters,” by Carl P.
