Letters to the Editor
Gibson’s letter is excellent. I echo his desire to awaken the news media across our nation to see that it has been straying from its responsibility to help maintain our democratic republic by informing us objectively about our government bodies, instead of reporters dwelling on what candidate A said about candidate B.The journalists need to pressure the candidates to answer hard policy questions.
Other biases are submitted more carefully. This does not create an educated electorate. While our electorate has been driven to listen to a number of special interest groups who also excel in attracting the news media, the latter must free itself and return to its role of asking questions like, “And what will you propose to solve this or that problem?” And then crush them in your report if they won’t answer.
Please consider what Gibson said and set yourself apart from other media by providing information on all the candidates. It would be much appreciated.Re: “A new slot for Turpin? Return specialist could get more opportunities in the Cowboys’ offense,” by Calvin Watkins, Wednesday SportsDay column.Boy, oh boy, I sure hope Deuce Vaughn makes the Dallas Cowboys roster. It is exciting to watch a 5-foot-5 guy with so much talent in a world of much larger players.
