She was born in Halifax.This guest column has me wondering where policing in Canada is heading insofar as public support and police-community relations.
There were no special patches then, except our police badge, which was a symbol of our position in society and of the justice system. The observation that most police officers are white ignores the strides made in Canada to recruit from all people in society. Furthermore, the fear that we may be headed towards more radicalized groups of police officers because they are white is unfounded.Criminology professor Stephen Schneider's Oct. 15 commentary is long on innuendo but totally lacking in factual support.
I think a show of support for these heroes is more than warranted. Although he doesn’t directly say so, the tone of Prof. Schneider’s piece seems to imply support for Black Lives Matter, a demonstrably corrupt organization, and police defunding, a formula for societal decay.
