ACTS OF KINDNESS
I recently witnessed an act of humanity that was heartwarming. When the garbage man came to empty the huge bins in our apartment complex he started lifting one of the bins when a man started waving his arms frantically from inside the bin. The operator gently put the bin down and got out of the truck. He went over to the homeless man and made sure he was all right, then gave him some money out of his wallet and a pat on the back. These selfless acts are what make Calgary great.
When will any city council, especially this one, learn spending restraint? Therein lies the problem.Article contentKen Uhren’s letter ‘Downtown Ideas’ quite properly calls out “Silly Hall” for their abysmal leadership in beautifying downtown, especially Stephen Avenue and the “eyesores in front of TD Square.” For the unaware, those eyesores have a name: Trees. Funny, I have for years called them Shoehorns.
