Letter: 'I’ve never understood the logic behind denying parents a choice in their child’s education.'
Of course, teachers’ unions and organizations that represent the educational establishment have always opposed school choice and they’ve always had the money to fight it. I was a substitute teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District and saw first-hand how lack of choice impacts education. There were some wonderful teachers, but the unions and organizations that controlled the school district represented the teachers and administrators, not the students or their parents.
It appears that with HB215 passing, Utah can empower parents and help students. Let’s hope it happens.
