Once again, every kind of media is hashing and re-hashing (as they always do ‘lest we forget’!) the tragic events of the recent happenings in Saskatchewan.
There is always an ‘inquiry’ into the ‘cause’ of the event and an accompanying promise that ‘this will never happen again!’ The multi-million dollar ‘inquiry report’ sits gathering dust on a shelf somewhere, and similar events happen again and again with increasing frequency. Why do we need these useless, expensive inquiries to determine the cause; they do more harm than good.
Why are we surprised or, as the case may be, not surprised by these events? Is it not because we are inundated by violence. We live in a culture of violence — it’s the ‘new norm!’ How many TV shows can you watch or listen to, or video games can you play that do not include some form of violence? Very few.
