Wayne Norman of St. John's, a regular on Signal Hill's North Head Trail, wonders why Parks Canada has not intervened in the dispute that has arisen over bright lights which he says can also be a hazard to hikers. sjpoli

The North Head Trail at the Signal Hill National Site in St. John’s. - ContributedNorth Head Trail, as we know it, begins and ends just a little to the east of the notorious bright lights that seem to be disrupting life in what was once a peaceful village known as the Outer Battery. I say ends and begins because if you are beginning your walk you are facing the lights and headed towards the ocean as you make your way around North Head and on up to Cabot Tower.

It is my understanding that this trail is administered by Parks Canada and their officials can often be seen giving advice or information about this somewhat challenging hike. They have also posted signs all along the trail indicating where hikers may get into trouble and warning them to stay on the trail. It is this due diligence on their part that makes me wonder why Parks Canada has not intervened in the dispute that has arisen over these bright lights.
