Let's bring back awareness: WOODZ shares & openly talks about missing children in Korea
Recently, WOODZ has been using his social media platforms, particularly YouTube, to raise awareness for missing children. His latest videos showcase his trip to Paris and Europe, but also feature images of missing children and a phone number for those who may have information about their whereabouts.
This issue is not new to Korea, as the number of missing children's cases reported to the police is increasing every year. In 2020, the police received 19,146 reports of missing children, of which 105 remain missing as of December 31st. Pursuing long-term missing children cases often falls to the wayside, and tracking down the child is left to the parents and families due to a lack of personnel and the massive workload faced by individual police officers.
Families of missing children have called for new laws and more compassion from others to address the issue. Cho Seung Youn's efforts to raise awareness about missing children are an important step towards change. The National Center for the Rights of the Child Korea and other organizations such as the Global Missing Children's Network are other resources available to aid in the fight against child abduction and missing children.
