Mindy Rackley and Kendall Brown said they were told their rehearsal dinner was being canceled out of 'love' because they were 'in an unhealthy relationship.'
A Missouri couple say they were left devastated after the restaurant where they were planning to host their wedding rehearsal dinner canceled the event after learning that they were gay.
"When I answered she said she had some questions about the dinner. One of the questions was 'What is your groom's name,' to which I kindly responded, 'It's actually a woman and her name is Mindy.'" Rackley said that when Kendall called her to describe the incident, both were left in tears."We have never been treated this way and have never been declined a service because who we are," Rackley said."Our hearts hurt."
"Nobody else needs to feel less than human, no one needs [to] feel rejected, dismissed or not enough," Rackley said."So many people have fought for our rights to be equal, to be free, so that we don't have to walk around and hide or be treated any different from any other human being in this world. Since sharing their experience, Madison Café's Facebook page has been flooded with complaints, with many social media users vowing to boycott the restaurant.
