The new presenter of Glow Up discusses the changing face of the beauty industry, being scouted as a model as a teenager and diversity in fashion.
The presenter of the BBC Three show, which sees make-up artists compete to be Britain’s next make-up star, was first scouted to be a model when she was coming home from school in Wimbledon, south-west London, aged 14. “I didn’t take it seriously at first, I was only a teenager,” she says. “I thought a stranger was trying to talk to me.Eventually, though, Leomie was convinced to give modelling a go. “Because I had no expectations, I wasn’t nervous or anything,” she says.
While Leomie never thought about quitting modelling, this kind of treatment required her to have “a thick skin," she says.‘I know the impact of having make-up on that doesn’t make you feel the best’ “I know the impact of having make-up on that doesn’t make you feel the best. So, this is a big moment for me.”
