Leeds United were originally due to charge Huddersfield Town supporters £47 for an away ticket at Elland Road
Leeds United have reached a reciprocal agreement with Huddersfield Town to over the price of away tickets, ahead of this month’s clash between the two clubs at Elland Road. The Whites were initially set to charge Huddersfield supporters £47 a ticket to watch from the away end on Saturday, October 28.
That price plan caused outrage at the John Smith’s Stadium, with the Huddersfield Town Supporters Association insisting it was simply too much to watch a Championship game. Terriers owner Kevin Nagle responded publicly to the outrage, too, suggesting attempts to reduce the ticket price for away fans had fallen short.
However, the two clubs have now reached an agreement that will see Huddersfield supporters pay just £20 for an adult ticket to watch Darren Moore’s side take on Leeds at Elland Road, with various concessions priced at £15, £10 and £5. The deal will see Leeds supporters charged the same price when United make the 16-mile journey down the M62 on March 2, later in the season.
It’s not the first time Leeds have reached such an understanding with an opposing team, with prices being cut by more than half for visiting supporters on the opening day of the Championship season. Cardiff City fans were due to play £45 for an adult ticket to watch the 2-2 draw at Elland Road, but after negotiations between the two clubs, prices were significantly reduced with the most expensive ticket costing Bluebirds fans just £21.
Of course, the reciprocal nature of the agreement means Whites supporters can expect to pay the same price when Leeds head to the Cardiff City Stadium in January.
