Leeds Rhinos face a “pivotal” season next year, chief executive Gary Hetherington says.
Rhinos finished eighth in the 2023 Betfred Super League table, two places and four points adrift of the play-offs and fell at the first hurdle in the Challenge Cup for the third successive season. That was a huge disappointment after a Grand Final appearance the previous year, but with six key signings announced so far - including one he reckons will be an “exceptional talent in Super League - Hetherington is expecting a major improvement in 2024.
“Our attendances have been solid this year and we are looking to build them next year and get back to the sort of attendances we used to enjoy in the halcyon days.” Performances on the field will be the key to that and the Rhinos chief stressed: “Next year’s squad will look very different to the one that’s played throughout 2023 and it will be very much Rohan’s squad. It will be the players he wished to retain from the ones he inherited, the ones we’ve extended and the new players coming in.
