It's really taken people by surprise
People have been left in shock after the death of a man who was found unresponsive outside a Leeds city centre pub. West Yorkshire Police was called twice to The Regent Pub, in Kirkgate, on November 9 and attended the scene at 2.09pm when the man was found.
Speaking to people, who didn’t wish to be named, in nearby shops, they said they were “shocked” and “saddened” to hear of the man's death. He said: “It’s really bad what happened there. Someone lost their lives for no reason even if it was an argument, they lost their life for no reason. A 29 year old man saw police outside the pub in the morning on his way to work but didn’t know what had occurred. After telling him that a man had died following an incident, he said it was ‘such a shame’ something like that had happened.
Police were initially called at 1.50pm to a report of an incident at The Regent pub, with a further call made at 2.01pm to say that the situation was escalating.
