That was when in Korea, the students still had to warm the classrooms with a wood-burning furnace, and we took turns filling the furnace with chopped wood,""Before we got to the U.S, we made a stop in Hong Kong. It felt like I was suddenly in a sci-fi film. All those huge skyscrapers that you see in Hong Kong now, they were there in the 80's too. I can't ever forget that memory.
"You went to the grocery store and the oranges were piled high like a mountain. Oranges and Delmont bananas. Piled high like mountains. Oh, and the most delicious thing ever. Pistachios. Pistachios and green grapes. I saw green grapes for the first time in the States. Fruit was so cheap and delicious in the States," "Once my family moved back to Korea, I became obsessed with the American dream. My grades plummeted, and all I dreamt about was going back to the U.S.
