But on Friday in Baku, some Charles Leclerc qualifying magic gave Ferrari a much-needed boost, and served as a reminder of his status as one of the best on the grid.F1’s spring break came at a good moment for Leclerc, offering a couple of weeks for him to reset and recharge following the rough start. He balanced his time working with Ferrari at the factory with some mental reset away from F1, releasing a piano instrumental song, “AUS23,” on Spotify.
Leclerc admitted it was a “really good surprise” to take pole, saying a good result would have been beating the Mercedes and Aston Martin cars. It made the success of taking pole all the more significant for Ferrari, a counter to the noise of the past week.
