Durham Region is launching a website that will offer information about local flood risks and climate-related issues.is a collaboration with municipalities, conservation authorities and the Climate Risk Institute.
It explains what kinds of flooding are possible in the region, including those along riverbanks, shorelines and urban roads.It also offers tips on what to do during an emergency, and how to make plans with neighbours. “Our focus is on preparing the community to respond and adapt to changes in our climate,” said Ian McVey, manager of sustainability. “By collaborating with communities and stakeholders on this work, we hope to develop solutions that will establish a resilient community despite these changes. The Flood Ready Durham website will continue to grow as we keep adding resources and updating with our progress.
