That jinx, mercifully, ended Saturday night, when the Leafs’ John Tavares scored in overtime of Game 6 to oust the Tampa Bay Lightning and advance Toronto to the second round of the playoffs.Not just any baby, but the great great great grandson, and great great great grand nephew, of the Maple Leafs franchise’s first co-head coaches, Frank and Dick Carroll, respectively.
Dick Carroll gets official credit for coaching the Arenas in 1918 to the franchise’s first Stanley Cup championship. And yes, the baby’s middle name is John.
