Marcel Blanchette was out on parole when he and an accomplice raped and murdered Isabelle Bolduc in Sherbrooke.
Véronique Buisson, a parole board member, apologized to Marcel Bolduc, the victim’s father, and offered him the chance to read a statement he had prepared for the hearing, but he declined.
“He’s 75 years old. What can he improve on? He’s never worked a day in his life. All he ever did was commit crimes. He was granted parole seven times before he killed my daughter. He never did anything except to cause harm all over the place,” Bolduc said. Isabelle Bolduc was killed on June 30, 1996 by Blanchette and Jean-Paul Bainbridge, 52, who is also serving a life sentence for the murder. Bainbridge admitted in court that he abducted Bolduc early in the morning of June 29, after he and Blanchette discussed the possibility of raping a woman together.Article content
When Blanchette and the other two men were arrested, the crime shocked Quebec — especially when it was revealed Blanchette and Labonté, who ended up pleading guilty to forcible confinement, were on parole when Bolduc was abducted.
