The Tynecastle skipper is wanted by Ibrox boss Philippe Clement this summer
Sam Lammers is edging close to a £2.7million move to Twente Enschede – in a deal which could unlock the cash for Rangers’ bid for Lawrence Shankland .
The 27-year-old has been told he has no part to play in Clement’s summer rebuild but still has three more years to run on a bumper contract following his arrival from Italian side Atalanta last summer. While Utrecht and NAC Breda have matched the asking price, those moves fell through when it came to matching the player’s wage demands.
If a deal can be thrashed out then Clement will look to spend the money raised, with Shankland high on his list of targets despite the gaffer deciding against a move for the Scotland striker in January. Clement is desperate to bring in reinforcements ahead of the Premiership opener against Shankland’s Jambos at Tynecastle next Saturday and he could tie up a loan for Sevilla ace Joan Jordan in the coming days.
