The saturated, slide-prone coastal bluffs in San Diego County are expected get 1 to 1.5 inches of rain by early Wednesday from the sixth major Pacific storm to hit the region since November. The storm moved ashore Tuesday with light to moderate rain that was likely to become heavy between midnight and 4 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service said. “This is a threat to really steep coastal slopes,” said Alex Tardy, a National Weather Service forecaster.

Tuesday, Palomar Mountain had recorded 1.32 inches of rain and Camp Pendleton has received 0.85 inches. Escondido reported 0.53 inches and San Diego International Airport logged 0.40 inches. The storm that reached Southern California on Tuesday unleashed particularly heavy rain in greater Los Angeles, which received more than 2 inches in some areas.
