Snow will quickly taper off across Southcentral today, with cloudy skies to linger for much of the day.

Snow will quickly taper off across Southcentral on Monday with cloudy skies to linger for much of the dayANCHORAGE, Alaska - The active weather pattern across Southcentral Alaska is finally showing signs of letting up as the final push of snow is falling across the region.

An area of low pressure along the northern Gulf of Alaska will shift to the east through the day, leading to drier weather returning to the region. In fact, as the low falls apart and weakens, we’ll begin to see a ridge of high pressure build into the Gulf of Alaska. This ridge will greatly influence the weather for both Southcentral and Southeast Alaska through the rest of the week.

Southeast is also starting off Monday morning with some light rain showers. Rain will amount to less than a quarter of an inch in many places, with most of the activity for the Northern Inner Channels and the central Panhandle. As the rain lightens up later this evening, expect sunnier and warmer weather to take hold for the rest of the week. Daily highs will warm into the upper 30s and 40s in the coming days, with sunshine extending well into the weekend.
