A public survey in which Greater Sudbury residents are asked for their insights regarding the city’s direction in advance of 2023 budget deliberations caps off on Dec. 6
It’s last call to weigh in on community consultation for the 2023 budget, with a public survey closing after Tuesday.
The survey, in which residents are asked for their insight on various areas of budget priorities, is available online by clicking here. It’s also available by visiting any city library, Citizen Service Centre, the One Stop Shop at Tom Davies Square or by phoning the city’s customer service line at 311. Once city administration’s budget is tabled in January 2023, the city will host a second round of public engagement to inform them of the proposed budget. This will include a “two-way dialogue through a virtual town hall session and question and answer opportunities,” according to a media release issued by the city this week.
Although the budget to this point will have been guided by city council’s direction, including a tax increase no greater than 3.7 per cent, it’s still very much city administration’s at this point. The city’s elected officials will vote on potential changes during budget deliberations beginning in mid-February and capping with an approved budget on March 7. This is a particularly difficult budget year, with city administrators tasked with shaving $17.7 million in order to hit the 3.
