Lara Parker, the actress best known for her years long role in the spooky soap opera Dark Shadows has died.Her agent announced the former actress had passed away in her sleep Thursday, according to The Hollywood Reporter, just a weeks before her 85th birthday.She was educated at Vassar, Jane Fonda was her roommate. She earned her BA there, and received her Masters of Arts degree from the University of Iowa in speech and drama.
'By the time the children were 6 and 7 years old, knew that I just couldn’t sit there and look at those fields for the rest of my life,' she told Mid-South magazine in 1972. When Tim Burton directed the 2012 comedy Dark Shadows starring Johnny Depp, Parker and several of her former co-stars were cast in small roles.
Parker stepped away from acting in 1999 and went back to school to get her MFA in creative writing from Antioch University. That was followed by other Dark Shadows books including: The Salem Branch, Wolf Moon Rising and Heiress of Collinwood.
