A duo of Land Rover Defenders has completed an incredible 60,000km journey across 24 African nations as part of the Africa Odyssey Expedition by the Kingsley Holgate Foundation. The expedition focused on delivering mosquito nets to vulnerable communities, providing reading glasses, and promoting wildlife art.
As part of the Africa Odyssey Expedition for humanitarian purposes, a duo of Land Rover Defender s has completed a journey covering 60,000 km across 24 African nations. The expedition, coordinated by the Kingsley Holgate Foundation, delivered essential insecticide-treated mosquito nets to vulnerable communities, especially children under five and pregnant women. Over a year, the team distributed 15,880 mosquito nets , each estimated to protect a mother and two children from malaria.
Additionally, the expedition provided ‘Rite to Sight’ reading glasses and Wildlife Art templates in under-resourced areas. The journey also faced numerous challenges, including navigating through the Congo's floods, Juba's pothole-ridden roads, and the harsh conditions of the Sahara desert. Expedition leader Ross Holgate praised the Defenders' reliability and performance, confirming their status as the preferred vehicle for the Foundation
