Chairperson Dean Macpherson says they're set to come out in their numbers to make their mark in next week's by-election.On Monday, the DA’s federal council chair Helen Zille went door-to-door campaigning for her party.Macpherson says they later met with concerned locals who shared their list of grievances, including vandalism at Frendale Primary School, sewerage problems and land invasions.

"The municipal land invasion was called out this weekend, they didn't come. They absolutely ignored the calls of the residents, the calls of councillors, and they just sat back and watched this take place. "There has been a lot of tension in the Newlands community over these land invasions, and we tried and calm those tensions and people down."

Helen Zille is joined by DA KZN Leader, Francois Rodgers, DA KZN Chairperson, Dean Macpherson, Councillor Remona Mckenzie during an oversight visit at Ferndale Primary School in Newlands East which has severely vandalized toilets.
