Anthony Davis isn’t buying in to the notion that he’s a long-term pillar for the Los Angeles Lakers. Davis, who is signed with the basketball team only through this year, told the Chica…

in an interview Saturday that he’d be interested in exploring something with that team.

“I mean, definitely hometown,” Davis said. “If the opportunity ever presents itself and when that time comes, I’d definitely consider it.” Davis was acquired July 6 from the New Orleans Pelicans, but has repeatedly said he’s only focused on the coming year, when he’ll be paired with, DeMarcus Cousins, Kyle Kuzma and Danny Green in an effort to get the Lakers back to the playoffs.

After his introductory press conference, Davis said that he had one year with the Lakers, then would review his options. The words had to terrorize the organization, which basically bet the farm that they could make him a pillar of their future teams as LeBron ages. In addition to giving over young players Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart, the team sent three first-round draft picks to New Orleans, meaning the Pelicans essentially control the Lakers draft from 2021 through 2024.

Lax PetSmart Background Check Allows Deranged Gerbil To Slip Through The CracksLax PetSmart Background Check Allows Deranged Gerbil To Slip Through The CracksPHOENIX—Retail chain PetSmart Inc. came under fire this week after a police investigation revealed the company’s loose background-screening process had allowed a deranged gerbil to slip through the cracks and be sold to a Los Angeles family, despite the rodent having reportedly exhibited sociopathic tendencies such as hoarding pellets, maniacally shredding wood chips, and hiding itself away in dark holes. “We wish to extend our deepest apologies to Mr. and Mrs. Richardson and their children, as well as commend them for catching the early warning signs of their pet’s psychosis and turning the animal over to authorities,” PetSmart public relations manager Jeff Davis said of the unhinged gerbil, who according to family members exhibited extensive troubling behavior, often squeaking to itself late into the night and then shitting all over the house. “Though we at PetSmart remain humbled by this unfortunate incident, we would like to assure animal lovers everywhere that thorough background checks are paramount in our screening process, and that we carefully review each animal’s credit history, criminal record, and social media use prior to its sale.” Davis added that the mishap was the first of its kind at the company since 2003, when a store accidentally sold a goldfish with a history of suicidal ideation.
