James’ 36 points and Anthony Davis’ 16 and 13 rebounds helped the Lakers finish a 43-39 season with 9 wins in 11 games going into the postseason.

LOS ANGELES — The Lakers handled their business Sunday afternoon at Crypto.com Arena, defeating the Utah Jazz, 128-117, in their regular-season finale, and then waited to see the results of three other games involving Western Conference teams to learn what comes next.

LeBron James scored 36 points and Anthony Davis had 16 points and 13 rebounds as the Lakers closed the regular season with victories in nine of their final 11 games, setting them up to take seventh place in the playoff seedings. They could have finished as high as sixth or as low as eighth. The Lakers ended the regular season with a 43-39 record, a giant leap from their 2-10 start. A roster overhaul at the trade deadline, which included sending out Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley, paid dividends. The Jazz missed the playoffs with a 37-45 record. Kris Dunn led Utah with 26 points. Before the game, the Lakers signed guard Shaquille Harrison and center Tristan Thompson to bolster their depth for the playoffs.
