Lake County jury convicts man of 2021 fatal shooting in Painesville

Julian Lawrence, 26, was found guilty of aggravated murder, murder, and other charges in the November 2021 shooting death of Ollie Timall Gipson Jr., 22.

PAINESVILLE, Ohio — A Painesville man was convicted Thursday by a Lake County jury for the shooting death of a 22-year-old man in 2021.

Julian Lawrence, 26, was found guilty of aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, two counts of kidnapping and marijuana trafficking, according to the Painesville Police Department. Police say that on Nov. 4, 2021, officers found Ollie Timall Gipson Jr., 22, with gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the area of 55 Grant St., which is west of downtown between West Jackson Street and Mentor Avenue . Gipson Jr. died at the scene.
