Franchise player tag that NLL features would have made it hard for Vancouver to get back star defender Beers
The Vancouver Warriors are rebuilding. They need to get younger, quicker, more athletic. Going into last Monday’s National Lacrosse League trade deadline, their most marketable asset was veteran defender Matt Beers, the team captain who happens to be a pending unrestricted free agent.
Mydske plays for the Saskatchewan Rush. He’s an upper echelon defender in this league, in that same company as a Beers. Mydske was an unrestricted free agent last off-season and the Rush decided not to protect him in the expansion draft, figuring they would merely sign him if the San Diego Seals or the Philadelphia Wings used one of their selections on him.
